The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2007 on 18th May, 2008 for recruitment the 671 posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and certain other Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Central Services / Posts.

  JMET 2008: Test Pattern:
 

JMET is the first step for admission to post-graduate degree programmes in management at the IITs and the IISc (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore ).Joint Management Entrance Test 2008 (JMET 2008) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee to the 2-YEAR FULL TIME Post-Graduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IISc and the IITs for the academic year beginning July/Aug 2008.

JMET 2008 is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. They are also advised to look up the details provided in the brochure about the programmes available in the participating Institutes. There is no limit to the number of programmes a candidate can apply to, so long as he or she meets the eligibility criteria.

Test Pattern:

The test will consist of 150 questions (objective / multiple choice type) in the following sections:

  1. Verbal Communication
  2. Logical Reasoning
  3. Quantitative Ability
  4.  Data Interpretation

There is negative marking for incorrect answers. For a wrong answer to a question, 25% of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. Moreover, for a candidate to be qualified in JMET 2007, he/she should, not only, secure certain minimum marks in the test paper, but also, should necessarily obtain certain minimum marks in each of the four sections stated above.

Eligibility:

A list of Management Programme and eligibility criteria to apply for these programmes in individual Institutes are given below. Please refer to pages 19 to 46 for further details. Students in their final year of qualifying degree course are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, and their continuation in the Programme is subject to the completion of all requirements for the qualifying degree and submission of provisional degree certificate on or before the date stipulated by the admitting Institute.

JMET Application Procedure 2008:

Procedure To Apply For JMET 2008:

JMET 2008 Application Form may either be submitted ONLINE (Internet based) or OFFLINE (by Post).

ONLINE submission of JMET 2008 application can be done by accessing the website of IIT Kharagpur, http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/jmet and following the instructions contained therein.

For OFFLINE (by Post) submission, use the form enclosed with the Brochure. Carefully fill-in all the items of the forms after reading the instructions provided. Your photograph should be pasted at the appropriate place provided in the form. You may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need. Keep a photocopy of the completed application form for your record. Select two test cities of your choice in order of preference from the list given and also indicate their city codes (Refer to Table 3.2). The test cities cannot normally be changed once the choice is made. Request for change of test city in exigencies should be accompanied by a Demand Draft for Rs. 400/- drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalised bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. Such request should reach The Chairman GATE, IIT Kharagpur latest by November 29, 2007.
